Sorry this will be boring, but not much happened this week.
I spent most of the week working and doing homework. On Friday, went to Chase's Homecoming game. Heartbreak central. Another squeaker lost to Prior Lake. On Saturday I spent most of the day doing homework and at night worked the Dierks Bentley concert at UST. It was pretty fun... crazy kids! On Sunday Josh and I just kind of hung out and watched football, with me doing some homework. For dinner, we tried the Vietnamese restaurant by his house. SOOOOO GOOD! Now I will be wanting to go there all the time :(
Last night we went to meet with Samantha from the Legends. We had a full page and a half of questions to ask, and she had answers. As of now, it's looking like the Legends is the place. The date there is June 30th. It could be our wedding day!
Only a few minor concerns, they don't really have a backup plan for their outdoor ceremony location and there is a balcony for the restaurant that overlooks the ceremony site. We are going to see what we can do about these things. Sorry this is a lame update, but it's all I have. I'll let you know as soon as anything is official.

Sunday
After a weekend of fun, we need an update.
On Friday, Chase had a wonderful football game. He played so well (both ways) and it was by far the most fun game so far this season! Josh and I met up with Jamie and Chad after the game. It was really nice to see them (especially Jamie) since I haven't seen her in a long time. Saturday brought homework time (oh yeah, I AM still in school) and more time with friends. Kindie and Ben and Andrew Harkins joined Josh and I for dinner. Jamie and Chad met up with us after dinner and Ian joined later. It was a fun night.
On Sunday I met my mom, cousin Rachel, and Nancy at David's Bridal to do some preliminary dress shopping. Our consultant was also named Nancy and she was just great. Here are my favorites:

First dress. Didn't love it, but looking back it was cuter than I remembered.
Love the back of this one.
I like this dress, but the top isn't quite what I'm looking for. I want more of a sweetheart.
This was my favorite dress of the day. Almost exactly what I was looking for (minus the short skirt underneath that was all bunched up because it didn't fit)
I really liked the top of this one, but wasn't a fan of the skirt.
Here are some of the others that I tried on:
Boring This was a little too crazy for me and I'm not sure how I feel about it being so form-fitting.
Nancy's favorite dress of the day. I am cranky because I told consultant Nancy that I wanted black bridesmaid dresses and she kept tying black things on me. Again, not sure how I feel about such a form fitting dress.
After dress shopping, we went reception site shopping. We first went to Stonebrooke Golf Club in Shakopee and it was a huge disappointment. Here are some pics I found online, but let me tell you it is not at all as impressive in person. When you first walk in, you have to basically walk through the Pro Shop and the whole place is very small and open. The restaurant (which is pretty much in the reception hall) stay open during your event. Josh was really funny at this one because he was trying so hard to stay positive but it was obvious he hated it the whole time.
After we visited here, we decided we needed to look at a few more places to make our trip down worthwhile. We went over to Brackett's Crossing Country Club because it had a few dates that would potentially work for us. It was love at first sight for all of us. SO beautiful. We are calling this place today to see if we can put it on hold until we can meet with their people to work out the details. These pictures do not do it justice, absolutely gorgeous.
Another potential place that we visited is Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake. We haven't checked on availability on this place yet, but something to consider.
I think that's all for now. Better get to work!

Things I LOVE so far
Here is an update on things that Josh and I love so far. And some things that I love and Josh knows nothing about (no one is perfect!)
This guy! Haha, but seriously :)
Thing Number One: Birdcage veils. I am obsessed. Necessity. I would give up other things to have this and may or may not be planning themes around it. Also, one night last year Josh saw one of these and sheepishly asked if I liked them. When I asked why he said that he really did and thought it seemed like me. Win!
Thing Number Two: Black and White Bridal Party with Sky Blue Accents. Hence the title of the blog. Josh loves black and white weddings. I love blue. Put them together and you get black and white and blue all over :) I love this picture but I would like to have all white flowers with blue wrapping and maybe a blue feather clip in the girls' hair.
Thing Number Three: I love the simple, vintage-y look of this cake. It looks like something a grandma would make, which I love.
Four: Josh and I both love the idea of bird cages for a card box. It really adds to the theme we are building.
Some dresses I like. My favorite is the bottom right hand corner!
Both Josh and I really want to include elements of family. I found this idea of displaying parents' and grandparents' wedding pictures. Probably not this large on the windows, but I definitely want them there!
I like this bouquet if you take out the blue and green stuff in it.
Now you are officially up to date on plans so far. This weekend I am going preliminary dress shopping and to visit a potential reception site. We will see how it goes!
The Aftermath
Sorry, I have some catching up to do.
We spent Sunday with our families. It was nice to see everyone and share their excitement. Everyone was asking if we set a date, which we obviously had not. Hopefully this means they are all just as excited as we are to tie the knot...
Speaking of that, we are aiming for next summer. I will update as any more details arise.
On Sunday night I had my first wedding nightmare. Somehow it was my wedding day and I hadn't done any planning. I was with Melissa and she was helping me try to help me throw something together. As we were on our way out the door, I realized that we didn't even have the license. As I was about the throw in the towel for pulling the day off, I woke up in a cold sweat. Josh assures me that this is highly unlikely to happen, so I am just trying to move on ha ha.
On a much more happy note, last night I had a dream about how awesome Josh is. He was treating me way better than everyone else's significant others (standard behavior), and I felt like the luckiest person in the world. I haven't told him about this one, but I am confident that this is highly likely to happen.
Yay for life! I will soon be posting some of the ideas I have been having so far. Stay tuned (even though it will probably be posted before anyone reads this)

And it begins...
After almost exactly 6 1/2 years of dating, Josh and I are engaged. It has been a long, fun, and sometimes bumpy road. But we made it here together.
Saturday, September 10th started like any other day. Josh and I made plans to meet for dinner like we had been doing for the past couple of weekends. In the weeks leading up to this date, I had been taking extra time before seeing Josh doing my hair and makeup, trying to pick out the cutest outfit. What if today is the day? You would think I was a boyscout, since I had no real reason to expect anything. But I was ALWAYS prepared.
On this day, I just threw on an outfit, patted on a little powder, and headed to my aunt's for lunch to celebrate my cousin being in town and my grandpa's birthday. We had fun (despite the lack of blazing inferno cake we had the year before... I guess we learned our lesson!), and I was off. 35E was under construction so I decided to just head to Josh's place so we could go to dinner form there. I called him on my way home to inform him of my plan, he was a little awkward, but I thought he just needed more time to arrange his apartment. I offered to give him more time but he said to just come over.
When I got there, he had gone to the farmer's market and bought a giant bouquet of flowers. They were gorgeous, but I didn't think much of it since I am one of lucky few women who actually get flowers for no reason on occasion (I know, I know, but I saw him first!).
On our way to the mall, he asked where I wanted to go to dinner. I thought that P.F. Chang's sounded good and we hadn't been there in awhile. He agreed, because he later told me that he wanted to go to a nice restaurant but not too nice or I would get suspicious. Dinner was delicious, but I kept getting awkward looks from Josh because I kept saying things like "this is just the kind of place that feels fancy because you don't come here very often." At one point he even grabbed my hand across the table and I remember thinking "well this is awkward, people watching this probably think he's about to propose... yeah right!" Little did I know...
When we got back to his apartment, he asked me to bring the left overs to the fridge so he could bring our shopping bags into his room. When I came back into the living room, he grabbed my hands and got down on one knee. I was so excited that I jumped up to hug him. After a few minutes he set me down and asked if I wanted to see the ring... minor detail :)
It turns out, like every other time Josh has tried to surprise me with something, I had ruined his plans. He had really wanted to propose at my apartment because it has so much meaning to us, being my first place on my own and where our future home will be.
Our engagement story is probably not one for the record books, but I really don't care. It is so us. It fits our relationship. And to be honest, I am just really excited to start officially spending my life with my best friend.
